Here are some great pictures and details about the 3 gigantic palm tree shaped islands known as theDubai Palm islands which are being built on the coast of Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). I did a little Google search and found these awesome Dubai Palm Islands pictures and would like to share them with you at Planet Apex.

Each of the Dubai islands (Palm Jumeirah, Palm Jebel Ali, and Palm Deira) are being built in the shape of a date palm tree and consist of a trunk, a crown with fronds, and are surrounded by a crescent island that acts as a breakwater. The biggest island of it, the Palm Deira island, when completed will be the world's largest artificial island. They've also been named one of 'The Eighth Wonder of the World'.

"The Palm Deira island will cover 14 kilometers (8.7 miles) in length and 8.5 kilometers (5.3 miles) in width and have an area of 80 square kilometers (861 million square feet). It will consist of residential property, marinas, shopping malls, sports facilities, and clubs. The residential area will be located on the fronds and will contain 8,000 two-storey town houses in three distinct styles - Premier Villas, Grand Villas and Vista Town Homes." - TEN Dubai Palm Islands

From a architectural and engineering perspective these Dubai islands are wonders. I love these Palm Dubai Islands for there amazing engineering and architecture feats. Maybe also as real estates and property development the Dubai islands can be successful and recover the billions of dollars spent on them and become a assert to Dubai. That aside, I am a skeptic when it comes to these Arab sheiks sand castle paradises. Even with a little bit of smart thinking the money they spend on vain mega projects like these can put to better use. But that's altogether another story.

Yeah, I know it's stale news and people are living in the Jumeirah island. But the project is still far from complete. According to the developer's site the biggest island is to be completed in 2015! The article was in this weeks Sunday Times (Sri Lanka).
Sorry for spoiling the fun. Don't like the environmental implications of this development.
You are hardly doing that L. The whole project is another Arab extravaganza and nothing else. They couldn't even recover the cost from that world map island.
At last time many architects had created name in Dubai. I think Dubai now a capital of creative architecture, thanks to hight growth Dubai property

don't get me wrong. I also impressed with Dubai's progress and magnificent buildings and architecture. These Dubai Palm Islands, the burj towers, and other projects like the underwater hotel etc. are wonderful. I like them very much. I know dubai is trying to become a tourist destination through all these.
At the same time I wonder whether this is the best way for Emirates to spend there money. See all the construction going on. See Dubai itself. More construction workers than the native people or tourist! Why not put this money into building world class education institutes and scientific research facilities? Won't it be more productive and bring more attention and acclaim to Dubai people and the Arab world?
These dubai islands pics are sure interesting. There ar many islands advertised as palm islands for sun and fun like the little palm island, canary island and so on for just because they are full of palm trees.
By tha way, dd you know why they are shaped like a palm tree? I hear these Dubai islands are built in this shaped because this state doesn't have much beach and the little they had is getting shadowed huge those huge burj skyscrapers. talk about losing beach, lol

Thank you for informing me about this error. You are correct about Flevoland. As it turns out the Dubai Palm islands are not the biggest artificial islands in the world.

Complete waste of money. Its seems Dubai has got billions to spend because oil high receipts from oil prices.
I've been following these kind of development projects around the world and I thought Dubai palm islands was an unwise investment for the Dubai Government and for the investors who invested there. Many people warned about it but they went ahead with the project.
Now the way the global financial crisis is affecting Dubai is proving they were correct.
I hope in future Dubai Government and companies invest there money in better ways.
The project I think is not waste of as God or Allah created man in his likeness,We all should be creative to continue the purpose God in creation. kudos the leaders
